A Whole New World!

About a week ago I arranged to meet with a friend at an establishment. It never frequented the particular venue before and I had no idea where I was headed. I drove ten minutes outside the city where I reside (thanks to my gps) in order to arrive at my destination. Upon my arrival I found myself in unfamiliar land. I’m sure I experienced similar thoughts to that of Christopher Columbus after he navigated the Santa Maria across the Atlantic Ocean to the new world. I found myself in the Korean version of Chinatown in New York City. The signs on all the building were written in Korean manuscript. The city was bustling with activity similar to that of a hive filled with honeybees. The area was filled from end to end with people and I stuck out like a sore thumb (due to the fact that I am 6’5 and towered over everyone). Needless to say I felt lost.

“Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.” – Henry David Thoreau

How often do we get lost and experience confusion as we hike along the trails of our lives? We’ve all experienced these moments at different points in our lives. Are you at this point in your life right now?

“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.” – Martin Luther

Our heavenly father is always willing to come to our rescue if we simply run into his open arms.

Life makes so much more sense once we follow the direction of God’s Positioning System!

Dream Chaser

A dream according to most definitions is a series of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations occurring involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. Dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye movement (REM) stage of sleep when brain activity is high resembles that of being awake. Unlike most people I lack the ability to remember my dreams (I’m still holding on to the far-fetched or slightly ludicrous theory that I don’t dream when I sleep). No matter how momentous my efforts, I always seem to wake up feeling as though the dream fairy forgot to dump some of her magical dream conjuring dust on me during my slumber.

“The moment of enlightenment is when a person’s dreams of possibilities become images of probabilities.” – Vic Braden

We all possess our own dream of the portrait we desire life’s camera to capture. No dream comes into fruition simply by sitting back and waiting like a patient in the lobby of a hospital. The fact of the matter is that we must chase our dreams. Grab on to your dreams and hold on tight as if you were lying across an inner tube being pulled along the lake by a boat travelling at high speeds.

“If you want your dreams to come true, don’t over sleep.” – Yiddish Proverb

A dream is only realized through hard work, persistence and a dash of gumption. I may not experience the images, emotions or sensations that arise during the REM stages however, I have big dreams (A condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration).

Do you have dreams?

Are you oversleeping?

The distance between an individual and the culmination of a dream is either shortened or lengthened by the amount of effort one exerts during the chase!

Innovative Thinking!

A few days ago I stood in the middle of my kitchen for two minutes waging war against the dreaded adversary know as indecision. I knew I was famished but I couldn’t decide which entrée to prepare. Therefore I decided to go against the grain and allow my creative Food Network-like juices to flow and construct (or as I like to refer to it, “experiment with the aim of creating”) a dish on my own. No cookbook, no plan, no agenda, no rhyme or reason. I wanted to step out of my security bubble and try something different.

“CREATIVITY is thinking up new things. INNOVATION is doing new things.” – Theodore Levitt

We should all make an effort to apply the underlying concept of innovation throughout our daily lives. Let’s try to do new things. Let’s attempt to be courteous and show kindness to those that tend to rub us the wrong way. Help someone in need as opposed to doing the popular thing; looking awkwardly in the other direction. Rise above the influence and take a stand against mediocrity, violence, and all the other social norms which has sent our world into a tailspin. Be the positive influence on those around you, rather than allowing those around to influence you in a not so positive way.

“Prosperity belongs to those who learn new things the fastest.” – Paul Zane Pilzer

What new things do you need to add to your cookbook of life? Step out and conduct your own experiment (via trying new things) in order to fashion your own palatable gourmet meal of prosperity!

I know your probably wondering, I made scrumptious breaded chicken strips from an array of clandestine ingredients. (Sorry, the recipe is now a trade secret).
